Jabari "Quil" Mason

A Son, A Brother, A Friend,

Jabari Mason was all of these things and so much more. Born in November of 1991 Jabari Mason was born and raised in Newark NJ and was a proud community member. He attended St Michael’s School and Essex County North 13th Street Tech. Growing up, he played in several football leagues and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Jabari loved life and the many friends and family that surrounded him. As Jabari looked towards the future he sought to contribute and make not only his quality of life better but the quality of life for others as well. Jabari understood that maintaining a home both emotionally and physically was essential to success and growth and he wanted to see everyone win.

Sadly On the morning of March 10th, 2023 Jabari Mason was murdered in a violent attack on his life. In seeking to uplift others Jabari and his family opened their home to an individual that Jabari had known for over a decade and considered a close friend. Jabari’s life being taken so abruptly has left a void in the lives of many that were close to him. He was the only son of his mother, Shorone Carden.

This unimaginable tragedy has not only left Jabari’s family grief-stricken but they’ve also been left to grapple with the negative financial repercussions that come from such a loss.
