Jack Cassidy, Army Veteran, former Police Chief

I’m doing this for my dear friend Erin Cassidy. I will tell you right now she’s not gonna like this because she doesn’t like to ever ask anybody for anything while she gives people and animals all that she has. Erin was the only daughter of Jack and Mary Kay Cassidy, their pride and joy, their baby girl. Erin’s mom passed away three years ago, and in that time Erin and her two teenage sons lost not only their dear grandma, who they called Mimi, their grandfather on their father’s side, four of their beloved, pets, one at a very young age, very tragically, and now Poppy is gone. So much loss in such a short time and I have watched her with each one grieve so deeply. I saw her this morning and she is absolutely broken. Her father was a veteran, his paperwork was in a fire in St. Louis in 1973 where millions of veterans lost their records. He was never able to recover his to get his DD 214 which would have given him, a proper military burial and one that the veterans association would have paid for. Jack Cassidy was also the chief of police in East Pittsburgh for a very long time, and was beloved by many and was a mentor for many young police officers, including the woman Lori Payne, who filled his big shoes after years of his mentoring. I will add a link at the end of this with the story about the fire that occurred. This has left Erin with very few resources to give him the send off that he deserves, and burial with his beloved Mary Kay, whose ashes still sit at home. Jack also started a fund for abused animals while he was chief of police in East Pittsburgh. His love of animals passed on to his beautiful Erin who is a volunteer Humane officer in Westmoreland county. This girl needs a break. If you have a few extra bucks, anything will help.
