Jack Danaher Park
Donation protected
Hello to all Bainsville Outdoor Rink supporters!
One of the greatest community efforts I've ever been involved in has been the building of our outdoor rink 20 years ago, and the step-by-step process by which donations, volunteer work bees, community fundraisers, and Township support have led to the development of Jack Danaher Park.
Featuring a large outdoor rink, a community hall, a change shack, a Zamboni, and most importantly, a dedicated team of volunteers, this outdoor rink continues to maintain a natural ice surface and welcoming facilities that are unparalleled in our region.
The roof shingles on our two buildings are reaching the end of their lifespan, and there's always repairs and improvements to make to the rink boards, ice pad and the grounds. In addition to our regular volunteers, we are calling upon friends in our area who use the rink and its facilities, as well as folks from farther afield who can appreciate the smiles on kids' faces as they stick-handle Bobby Orr-style in a game of pickup shinny.
Your contributions will help us purchase the materials we need to maintain what we have built, while using volunteer labour to do the work whenever possible. We will continue to maintain this site over time with updates on our projects and progress, and we'll send out friendly periodic reminders, should you wish to continue to contribute.
Our community rink is many things to many people. Our kids not only love to play there and form lasting friendships, but also learn the responsibilities that attend the continued maintenance of a community and its infrastructure. On behalf of the Bainsville Recreation Association, and my community, I can't thank you enough for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Shawn McRae
