Legendary New Orleans Jazz Musician Jack Fine, 91 yrs old, was evicted from his nursing home the week of July 20 and dropped on the doorstep of friend and fellow local jazz musician, James Williams.
Over the past two weeks, James has cared for Jack as well as found him a part-time day nurse and moved him into a one bedroom house at the back of his property so he can assist and be steps away at all times. Jack was dropped off with minimal necessities and needed a fully stocked house and a wardrobe.
With what was left of his savings, James was able to get Jack settled in and cared for up to this point, however, with the current pandemic shutting down all music venues and banning live music, James, a full time professional musician, can not afford to continue to cover the cost on his own.
We are asking for help raising $10,000 to cover Jack's move into his new home, clothes, overdue medical bills, rent, utilities, food, care, long car rides through the French Quarter, nurse to help during the daytime hours and the ice cream sundaes that he so loves.
Jack is a wonderful and delightful man, not to mention a jazz legend, and deserves to live out the rest of his life in a comfortable, caring environment with those that love him. Let's pull together and make the rest of Jack's life as good as he deserves! Thank you, James Williams Katie Katzenmeyer
