In Memory of Jack Jacobsen

There are no words for the feelings that everyone who knew Jack is going through. Jack had a way of entering a room and lighting it up. A man who was loved instantly just by saying “hey I’m Jack”.
Jack was the first one there when you called and the last one to leave. His humor was unmatched and always delivered in the right moment. Even through tears we can smile and laugh at all
the times Jack did something. He was always looking at the bright side, a beacon of hope even when hope seemed too far away. Jack was loyal to a fault and was over the moon to be starting a family with his love, Gabi! Sadly, Jack will not be able to meet his new baby girl.
Whether you just met him or have known him for years you wouldn’t know the difference as Jack treated you as if he had known you forever. Jack was the non fat fat guy. He loved food and made THE BEST grilled cheese sandwiches.
Jack’s friends instantly became family. So his family is so big. He was one of five siblings but had many more brothers and sisters through all he did.
Jack served his county in the United States Navy. He was a Girl Scout and ran around as our Captain Sprinkles, encouraging young ladies to be anything they wanted to be. It’s how he lived his life. Wanting everyone to be the best they could ever be.
We are so sad and the world is missing another light. We will see you around Jack.
Official Obituary-
In the spirit of Jack’s “trash talking” and fun-loving spirit – he would say that he left us with a bang. No matter the words you use, his life was cut short way to soon in the early hours of Friday, October 6th, 2023, leaving a void in the hearts of loved ones.
Jack was born April 11, 1996, in Elgin, IL, spending his formative years in Hampshire. After graduating from Hampshire High School in 2014, he immediately joined the U.S. Navy. While enlisted he completed his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Academy. For a short term he was stationed in Norfolk, VA. Jack then boarded the USS Kearsarge which deployed to the Gulf of Bahrain. He was a machinist’s mate where he worked in the engine room until his discharge in 2015 for medical reasons.
Jack approached life as an adventure; never daunted by what could possibly go wrong. If you were a target of his pranks or shenanigans, you know this full well. As a youngster, Jack was a Cub Scout and later in his adulthood, a Girl Scout, aka “Captain Sprinkles.” Jack loved many things but looking back, we believe he was destined to drive tow truck. As a very young boy, he attempted to pull his wagon while riding his tricycle. His Grandpa, Gary, helped him out; giving him a way to hook it up. Jack loved his job. As he said, he was getting paid for “stealing cars!” It was no doubt an adrenaline rush he loved.
We will forever remember Jack’s infectious smile, warm hugs, and mischievous spirit. We mourn the loss of a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, fiancée, and friend. Above all, we mourn the lost opportunity to see Jack embrace his eagerly anticipated role as a loving dad.
Jack leaves behind his parents Ericha and Ron Hosick, father Tom Jacobsen, siblings Garrett Bowers, Dakota Jacobsen, Ronald and Cheyenne Hosick, stepsister Krista Day, Grandparents Gary and Susan Lilly, Roger Jacobsen (Judy Corum), Paul and Marian Hosick, fiancée Gabi Kasimoff, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was welcomed to heaven by his uncle Mike Lilly and aunt Ashley Hosick, who proceeded him in death.
On Saturday, November 4, 2023, a Patriot Guard Ride and Celebration of Life will be held in his honor. The Patriot Guard Ride and Northwest Recovery (NWR) will be leading a tow truck processional on Saturday, November 4th @ 11am from Motorola in Schaumburg to Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm in Pingree Grove.
