Jack O'Neill's Big Man Triathlon - Pieta House
Donation protected
Hi everyone.
My name is Jack O'Neill. I am a post-graduate student at the University College Dublin, and I have been training the past couple of months to complete a very specific event as a fundraiser for Pieta House. I plan for the event to take place on Saturday 6th MARCH 2021.
The event is a triathlon with a twist. As my background is from rugby and power-based sports, I have substituted some strength elements into a traditional triathlon. Firstly, a maximal effort deadlift will take place in the morning where I will attempt to lift over double bodyweight (200+kg). After this, I will attempt to complete a 2000m row in under 7 minutes, a very difficult feat in itself let alone after a maximal effort deadlift. After the 2000m row, I will attempt to complete a full marathon (42km).
The target is to fundraise €1 for every kg lifted in the deadlift (€200), €1 for every second spent on the rower (€420), and €1 for every 100m completed of the marathon (€422), making a grand total of €1042.
Pieta House is a not-for-profit organisation that supports people and communities affected by suicide and self-harm by providing freely accessible, professional services to all. These services include counselling, therapy, and a 24/7 helpline to those in need. As the COVID-19 restrictions are not being lifted anytime soon, it has never been more important for everyone to connect together and check in on friends, family, and any one else close to you. I believe it is of upmost importance for us to continue raising mental health awareness in such challenging times.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser.
Many thanks,
Jack
