Jack & Rose Florist (Woodbury) Destroyed by Fire

On April 9th, Jack & Rose Florist in Woodbury suffered a devastating loss when a fire left their studio and storefront in ruins. Thankfully everyone was able to vacate the building in time and no one was hurt but the business lost nearly everything.

As a friend of the Rutigliano family, I am encouraging the community to help get this small local business back on its feet. Jack & Rose has been in business since 1948 and has been a hallmark of Woodbury (and all of Long Island) for decades. Many of us have fond memories of driving past the historic building on Woodbury Road, enjoying their eye-catching decorations and charming decor. Many of us have grown up with the Rutigliano children and know first-hand what hard-working people this family is made of. Many of us have had the pleasure of working with them on floral designs for a special occasions.

But on Easter Sunday- and just at the start of the business's busy season, this family's world was engulfed in flames. As members of this community, I am asking you all to help us rally to get this family and this local small business institution back on its feet.

The first thing owner Jack Rutigliano thought when he saw his business burning was "what about all of my clients, and how will I support my family and employees?" He has always put the needs of his business and clients above anything else and this time was no different. His building may have been burning but he was committed to keeping the business afloat so he wouldn't let any of his clients and employees down.

As many of you know, Jack & Rose Florist is known for their wedding work throughout the New York metropolitan area. Weddings are their bread and butter - and wedding season is here. Instead of skipping a beat, Jack, the family, & his whole team are working quickly to set up operations

so they don't have to cancel on anyone. While those temporary plans are underway, there is a ton this small business needs help rebuilding. And they can't do it alone.

Here are some of the many items your generous donation will help support:

◦ Rental of a temporary workspace and refrigeration units

◦ Replacement of all tools and supplies needed to operate

◦ Replacement of all rental items, vases, vessels, arches, chuppahs, candle holders, and more

◦ Replacement of computers

◦ And of course, the rebuilding or relocation of a new studio/workspace

I've known the Rutigliano family for years and I can say from the bottom of my heart what kind, generous, and wonderful people they are. They have been members of our community for over 40 years, playing a key role in many of our schools, community sports organizations, non-profits, and more.

Jack & Rose began in Manhattan in 1928 with a young couple, named Jack and Rose, who shared a love of flowers. Evolving from an original focus in retail, the company was founded and opened its first design showroom in Fresh Meadows, Queens in 1948. It has since grown to become one of the leading floral design and special occasion production studios in New York today.

A two generation, family-owned business, you can find Jack & Rose's showroom today headquartered in Woodbury, Long Island, a historic building, once the location of the town's first post office.
