Jack's Story:
Jack Runacres is 10 years old, in October 2018, he had a protrusion from his ribs, and complained of a stitch in his side. He was a healthy boy who loved football, swimming and sports.
In November 2018, he was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer in children and teenagers. He has been undergoing chemotherapy which has been so hard for him, losing his hair, nails, and feeling unwell, but he has fought it.
In March he had surgery to remove the tumour, they took two of his ribs away and part of his diaphragm and muscle, doing some reconstruction. He got over his operation well again with his determination. But it seemed there was always a 'but', when they tested the tumour the chemo had only killed 50% of the cancerous cells.
Now he has to go back for intensive chemo, which means a 6 week stay in hospital. Jack's life has been affected massively by this illness, it has prevented him from playing football/sports, leaves him breathless and unable to attend school. He has also had to deal with his hair loss, weight gain and in general is not able to do what a healthy boy of his age does.
The fundraising:
The fundraising will greatly benefit Jack and especially his family who have endured financial strain during this time. They have been unable to attend work due to taking care of Jack. We are hoping to be able to help Jack's family with the general cost of living and make things a little easier for them, as they are suffering financially with lots of hospital visits and travelling costs. I would be very grateful for all donations to help Jack and his wonderful family as I can't imagine what they are going through.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read Jack's Story and donate to his page.
