Jack Shields road to recovery

      I’m blessed beyond words to have Jack as an older brother. His sense of humor, charisma, and dedication to his friends and family is felt and cherished by everyone. This past Friday, on December 4th, Jack was severely injured in a serious car/scooter accident in Santa Barbara. The force from the collision has caused a laceration of his kidney and spleen resulting in life threatening internal bleeding, along with many other medical complications. After the accident occurred, Jack was quickly transported via ambulance to Cottage Hospital. He underwent two major surgerys in order to repair the lacerations and stop internal bleeding. 

       Due to Cottage Hospital’s status as a leading trauma center with quality doctors and nurses, I know Jack will end up being back to his normal self. Although the quality of care gives us hope of Jack’s full recovery, he is facing an immense financial burden with which he desperately needs the help from his friends and community. The looming medical bills for days in the ICU, surgeries, ambulance transportation, absence from work,and physical therapy to get back on his feet,  will be financially draining for Jack.
