Jack the Bunny
Hi, my friends,
I feel very guilty setting up a GoFundMe for my rabbit when human beings are suffering so much, especially in Los Angeles, the epicenter of the pandemic now with a person dying every 10 minutes & people waiting at food banks for hours to feed their family (what a world). But I have struggled and have come to the point where I think I need some help.
Jack (or as my kids named him, “Bunedict Cucumberbatch, because they love Dr. Strange) got very sick late last night. He was still and sat by his water bowl staring at nothing. He even let me pick him up and put him on my lap, which he’s never let me do before. I looked it up, and having a listless bunny is an emergency. So I drove him to the ER and they said he was in distress and he might have died if I hadn’t brought him in. They have to keep him multiple night and do X-rays and give him lidocaine for pain management. He has something in his stomach that he can’t pass yet. Hopefully the IV with liquid will pass whatever it is out of his system, but if not they’re going to have to put a tube down his mouth to unblock him. It’s all worth it because he is so sweet and he is a beloved addition to my lively but chaotic household, but unbelievably expensive. On the high end, it’s going to be around $4000 (they just told me he needs additional pain meds). On the low side, the vet said it was at least $1050.
the shortish story is that I need help. I’m sorry to ask this, but if you want to/can/feel like donating, I would so appreciate it. If the costs for the hospital stay end up being less than $4000, I will donate the rest to a homeless shelter or the food bank in Los Angeles. Or I am open to suggestions of where else to donate.
Thank you so much for listening and caring. My love and appreciation ad infinitum.
love,
zandy
