Jackie Stauffer Medical Expenses and Legacy Fund

My name is Jodie Emerson, and with the help of Amy Stauffer (Jackie's sister-in-law) I am fundraising in memory of my sister Jackie Stauffer. Jackie died from complications following heart surgery on Friday, February 17, 2023. We are heartbroken for the loss of our dear sister and friend. Please help us raise funds to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses and upcoming daycare costs for her husband, Micah and children: Wren (5) and Sage (3).

Jackie's Story

Jackie was the daughter of Janet Slack and Bill Pletcher, growing up in Duncan Falls, Ohio. She was the youngest of three girls (Julie, Jodie, Jackie). Born with a coarc of the aortea, Jackie faced five major heart surgeries in her 37 years. Jackie graduated from Philo High School in 2003 and Capital Universtiy School of Nursing in 2008. Jackie was a fierce friend, and "Jackie and Crew" went everywhere together. Jackie married the love of her life, Micah Stauffer, in 2008.

She was a nurse manager in the ambulatory department for Ohio Health. In 2016, Jackie elected to have her aortic valve replaced for a second time following a late term stillbirth of her first daughter Elliott brought on by Coumadin. Jackie's dream was to be a mother, and following the surgery she and Micah were blessed with two beautiful daughters. Wren and Sage will always be her legacy, the light of her life. Providing for Micah and the girls are the best legacy we can give in her memory.

Jackie was taken to the ER on Thursday, February 9th, following shortness of breath and not feeling well for a few days. She was transported from the Westerville ER to Riverside and then to the Cleveland Clinic, where she underwent numerous procedures, including another aortic valve replacement, on Valentine's Day. The surgery was a success, but two days later, she developed a brain bleed as a side effect of the ECMO machine, which ultimately took Jackie from us. Medical bills are hard enough when a family member recovers but even more devastating when one does not. We thank you for considering donating to this deserving family.
