Jackie Bivins's Daughter's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
In October 2018, Jackie's youngest son, Bear fainted and was unresponsive then later taken to the hospital. Luckily he was ok but his doctor had an EKG done on Jackie's other children. From that, he diagnosed her 11-year old daughter, Kennedy with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. The next day she passed out on her way home from the bus stop.
Since then, Kennedy was given a defibrillator to shock her heart in case it stopped beating at any point. As the disease worsened, a plan for a heart transplant had been made. On April 9, 2019 Kennedy was placed on the transplant waiting list. Although it sounded like great news, Jackie worried about not being within an hour of the hospital as that was a requirement. On Thursday, April 25 they rec'd the call at 3 a.m. that a heart was available for Kennedy and they needed to rush to Houston for surgery.
Kennedy's new heart was beating at 7:17 p.m. that very same day.
We've started a GoFundMe to help with the unexpected expenses that have come up from the earlier than expected transplant surgery. If you'd like to contribute anything at all, it's greatly appreciated!
