Jacki’s Eyes
Donation protected
Hi!
My name is Shauna and I am fundraising for my good friend Jacki Quinton.
In May 2022, Jacki had a routine laser eye surgery done. She was excited to have the freedom of not wearing glasses anymore. What she didn’t expect, was the extreme side effects that she has been suffering from as a result of that surgery. Some of those side effects have been extreme dry eyes, blurry and painful vision and the inability to participate in her usual daily routines. Jacki’s life has truly changed to one that revolves around her eyes and what she can do to see, work and enjoy life without pain. She was not able to work for almost 4 months after her surgery and has only been working part time for the last year. Jacki has taken off many days of work and spent thousands of dollars for appointments and different options to try to find help for her eyes.
Jacki loves the outdoors and sports such as biking, hiking, softball and volleyball and has only been able to struggle to participate in a handful of short events over the past 16 months.
Jacki has been very diligent in trying finding a solution to attempt to treat these symptoms. She has been to many different doctors and specialists and has been prescribed multiple eye drops and other treatments to help alleviate the dryness. Jacki has had special glasses made to help keep the moisture in her eyes so she is able to work. She has changed her diet to one that will help her body and eyes function as well as they can. While some of these options have helped her to a small degree, none of these have given her significant improvement.
Jacki has now found a treatment that has a very promising prognosis! There is an ophthalmologist in the USA that has developed a new treatment that has been very successful in treating extreme dry eyes. Jacki is so hopeful that this will help her return to a normal functioning life.
Unfortunately, the cost for this procedure is quite expensive, as are the costs for travel, accommodations, rental cars, etc.
Jacki needs some help in reaching her goal of having eyes that can see clearly and not cause her any more pain.
Please help if you can.
Thank you!
