Jack's Cancer Journey

On behalf of family and friends, we are fundraising to support our little mate Jack. Jack is 7 years old and lives on the Sunshine Coast. He went for an ultrasound after a week of tummy pain and, within 24 hours, was in surgery at the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, where they removed a tumour from his abdomen. Pathology testing confirmed the suspicion that Jack has Burkitt's Lymphoma. A whirlwind of tests and procedures followed over the next few days, and Jack's family were told that he would have to start treatment immediately and spend the next 4-6 months either in or very close to the hospital.

The chemotherapy regime required to treat this fast-growing cancer is very aggressive, and Jack and his parents live over an hour away from the hospital. Mike and Mel are taking turns being with Jack in Brisbane and then driving home to the Sunshine Coast to continue to work, but both of them have had to reduce their work hours to do this.

We would love your help to take a small part of the stress off their shoulders by raising money to reduce the time they have to be away from Jack and help provide the things he needs now and in the near future.
