Jack's London Marathon Fundraiser
I'm running the London Marathon on 23rd April 2023, in memory of my friend Rene who died by suicide at the age of 22, back in 2017. I'm fortunate to have my marathon place through work, and am raising money in aid of Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide and every donation will help.
Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide in the UK. Their suicide prevention helpline, HOPELINEUK, is staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, who work with young people – and anybody concerned for a young person – to help keep them safe from suicide. HOPELINEUK is a free and confidential call, text and email service, which is available from 9am to midnight, every day of the year.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK. They believe that everyone can play a role in suicide prevention and we work towards a society which speaks openly about suicide and has the resources to save young lives.
Rene's death was, and remains, totally incomprehensible to me - the coolest, happiest friendliest, funniest, smartest and best looking guy I ever knew, who I looked up to and admired, and radiated strength and confidence. My naiviety of the situation reminds me of the vital need for openess and support of this nature.
Thank you for your support! #Run4Rene
