Jackson House Fire Recovery
Donation protected
Hey friends and family--
Late Saturday evening, my sister's home caught fire. They've lost almost everything, but thanks to neighbors that happened to see the front porch on fire, they have their lives. The fire inspector ruled it accidental, and while they couldn’t definitively confirm the cause, we are thankful the insurance company can start to process the claim.
Many of you have asked, "How can we help?!" We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and concern!
What money they had is now gone to temporary housing, and even though insurance will be helping eventually, things are very tight. For the time being, they are staying on Tybee (shout out to the kind ladies of Mermaid Cottages, who gave a discount and didn’t flinch at five cats and one dog!) They are staying close so Chester can get back to school and maintain as much of a routine as possible, as Heather and Jim believe that will be the best for his mental health. A local church is helping with clothes.
So, to be straightforward: They need monetary donations. Insurance will take months to a year, and they have been told to "front" everything in hopes it will be approved for reimbursement one day.
If you don't feel comfortable giving on this platform, they would also love gift cards for Publix/Kroger/Doordash. Please reach out via this page for Heather's email address. GoFundMe won't allow me to publish it for her safety and to combat scams.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
