Jack Scherer Memorial Scholarship

It was Mid-March 2015 and my cousin Jack had just finished up the season with the CBA JV hockey team. He was looking forward to the end of school and the summer. Then in an instant, his life changed forever. What was thought to be a sports injury turned out to be a cancerous tumor inside his spinal cord that took away his ability to walk.
Throughout the entire battle, Jack showed unmeasurable mental and physical strength. He took every chance he could to work on moving and walking. He stayed positive for himself and for his family. (Check this out: Jack's story ).
On January 16, 2016, God called Jack home.
Jack lived a life unparallel to many. He went after all of his dreams tenaciously. He was a brilliant student at CBA. He took flying lessons to get his Pilot's license and flew the Met Life blimp. He was certified in open water diving. He was a kick-ass goalie for his hockey team at CBA. Fear and doubt coudn't stand a chance between Jack and his dreams.
To honor Jack's incredible and unending physical and mental strenghth, courage, and his love for life, I am running the DC Marathon on March 12, 2016. My sister Jennie is running the 5k (accompanied by our "third sister" Steph Colao.)
In addition, we are using this race to raise money for the Jack Stanton Scherer Memorial Scholarship fund at his school, CBA (Christian Brother's Academy) . He loved his school, and we know he would love to see a student be able to attend in his name.
Whether it's $5, $20, or more, we truly appreciate your contribution in this fund and in honoring my cousin Jack's life and spirit.
