**A Heartfelt Plea for Sorrelle and Barry**
On Friday, March 7th, 2025, the lives of Sorrelle and Barry were irrevocably changed by the sudden and heartbreaking loss of their beloved husband and father, Dougy, at the age of 40. Despite urgent efforts to save him, Dougy passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
That fateful day had started beautifully, with the family enjoying a lovely morning together, including breakfast at a local café and an essential visit to the playground in Walgett. They had recently settled into their new home, having moved to Walgett nine months earlier, and were in the midst of creating a joyful life together. After 19 wonderful years together, Sorrelle and Dougy were newly married in 2024 and were eagerly looking forward to celebrating Barry's 5th birthday on March 13th. They had recently purchased a house and were in the process of transforming it into their family home, with many plans for the future, including hopes of expanding their family, renovations, and simply continuing to build their lives together. They had quickly formed strong bonds within the Walgett community, finding their place in this new chapter of life.
Now, as Sorrelle and Barry face an uncertain future, their hearts heavy with grief, they must navigate a reality they never imagined. Sorrelle, a dedicated teacher at Walgett High School, and Dougy, a devoted paramedic both in Walgett and previously in Port Macquarie, spent their lives caring for others. But now, in this moment of profound and overwhelming loss, it is Sorrelle and Barry who need the support of their communities as they confront their greatest fear.
This fundraiser is to support Sorrelle and Barry during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation will go directly to the family to help ease their financial burdens, allowing them to focus on healing. Any support, no matter how big or small, will truly make a difference. If you cannot contribute financially, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to them.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Your generosity makes a meaningful impact during this challenging time.
