Jacob Honer is a man that is the definition of resilience. He has a passion for sports and played varsity football at Menasha High School. While in high school, Jacob was in and out of the hospital for an unknown reason. Over the course of that year, he was diagnosed with Pediatric Crohn's Disease. Medication management helped improve the symptoms and Jacob was resilient! He finished his high school career as a varsity football player.
Jake is an avid strength trainer and a hard worker in all aspects of his life. In the past couple years, Jacob has developed scar tissue as a result of insurance changing his medications and his coverage, and a gap in his medication administration. As a result, his Crohn's disease has flared up and his intestines have begun to deteriorate. Today, 1/19/24, Jake has been admitted to the hospital due to malnutrition and dehydration as a result of his significant Crohn's disease. He also will undergo surgery to remove part of his small intestines, and the expected recovery is 4-6 months. This is not ideal but Jake continues to maintain a positive attitude. His surgery may be as soon as the week of 1/22/24.
We ask that you follow @nikaben on Instagram (Nick Westphal, Jacob's Uncle) to see updates on Jacob. With the hospital stay and the surgery, the medical expenses are expected to exceed $20,000. In addition, Jacob is not able to work during the course of his recovery and his loving parents and sister will be by his side for recovery. Loss of income will impact Jacob greatly and his future opportunities to succeed in his health and wellness goals, as well as his life goals. We are asking for any donation to achieve our goal of $50,000 to help Jacob maintain a minimal standard of living throughout his Journey. Please help us in any way you can!!
