Jake was a 21-year old University of Minnesota Duluth business student, who had been missing since early Sunday morning when he left Grandma's Sports Garden in Canal Park. His body was recovered Friday afternoon from the Minnesota Slip just a couple hundred feet away.
Jake was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Many lives were impacted and improved by Jake's presence. The devastation and pain are deep and complex with this unexpected, tragic, and sudden loss.
The emotional pain is immediate and overwhelming but will not be limited to just today, this week, or this month. The Lavoie family has been hit with great heartache but with this heartache comes financial pain as well.
The financial impact will also hit the Lavoie family. Loss of wages, unforeseen expenses (travel, medical, school loans/commitments), and of course, end of life expenses (funeral arrangements) that can be quite daunting.
The Lavoie family has impacted and supported so many of our families over the years. It is now time we provide them support. While financial support will not take away the emotional pain of losing a child, it will help with avoiding or lessening the financial pain that accompanies that loss.
Please consider contributing to Jacob Lavoie's Fund. Your support and contribution will be very appreciated and helpful no matter what the amount. "It takes a village..." We need the village's support.
Thank you for your continued thoughts, prayers, and financial support during this unbelievably challenging time.
