Jacob Mims Family Recovery Fund

While I don’t know how to start this off I first want everyone to know we appreciate your thoughts and prayers for Jacob and our family while we go through this journey. This situation has not been easy and is/was very unexpected. We went from planning, and finalizing, a wedding for September to our lives being turned upside down within a matter of days.
Jacob went to the emergency room and was admitted on May 29th with jaundice symptoms when we learned his liver was severely inflamed. Within days he went from being jaundice to full ALF (acute liver failure), having to be intubated and put into the ICU. All of this being brought on suddenly due to over the counter Tylenol damaging his liver providing him with cirrhosis and making his body go septic within a matter of days. Which is not a common scenario.
At that point the only option for him was to be transferred to UCLA for liver transplant testing. We went from him being sick in the hospital to not knowing if our beloved man was going to make it home to me and his two girls.
Since being transported to UCLA we’ve been blessed to not only receive approval for the transplant list. But on June 23rd our prayers where answered and Jacob underwent liver transplant surgery.
Fast forward to today he is stable and making improvements. While we still have major hurdles to overcome our future looks brighter then before.
At this time we are faced with the fact that living in our current home is not an option, we will need to be closer to UCLA while he recovers and eventually returns home, so relocation is our only option. Although his timeline of returning home is unknown, the healing process has started. When he does come home it will be a long journey to recovery.
We apologize to everyone for keeping this quiet for so long. But we did not know how this would work out, and did not need the added stress of communication. That is why we have waited so long for this to be made public. Our family asks for your prayers and understanding in this matter. Due to his critical state we are not allowing visitors during this time.
We are hoping to raise enough money for Jacob to come home to a closer location and take care of any financial needs that have and will arise in the future. As well as keep our family steady during this time of little to no income since not only will he not be working but neither will I since he will need full care once discharged.
We where not anywhere near prepared for this situation to happen. Between the multiple trips to and from the hospital, being unable to work and depleting our funds to maintain a semi normal lifestyle for our children. It has been a ruff road.
But as long as Jacob can come home to his us that is all that matters.
From the bottom of our hearts thank you for whatever way you can help. Whether it be donating or sharing this post. I know Jacob, myself and our girls are so grateful.
