Jacob Minnick Memorial Fund

The Schutt family is collecting contributions for a memorial fund in the name of our son and brother Jacob Minnick. The fund will be used to provide annual scholarship awards to graduating seniors.
On June 17th, 2021, Jacob tragically passed away in an accident at the age of 18. Jacob was passionate about science, sports and music. He was kind and accepting of others and a Leader among his school.
Jacob’s passion for his many activities was fostered at Lockport High School through his involvement in Chorus, as well as 2 bands. He played the french horn and the bass for school. At home he played many different instruments. The bass was his favorite and he really loved to play rock band. He competed in diving, track and cheer. He was a three time state qualifier in diving and undefeated in section 6 for 3 years. Jacob led the Lockport Cheer team to states for the first time. Jacob did the pole vault for the track team. Just another way for him to fly through the air.
Jacob was the Lockport High School class of 2020. Covid interrupted his senior year. He did not let that stop him. He was a top student in his class. When everyone was upset about prom and graduation, he still stayed positive. He didn't worry about having a traditional graduation. He said I love the idea of a nontraditional graduation. This is just an example of how he would keep the smile on his face and the reason why he was so loved. Jaoob was kind to everyone. He was silly and daring. He loved to skateboard and would teach everyone whenever the opportunity would arise. He loved to go stargazing and knew so much about science at such a young age.
After high school, Jacob attended Clarion University where he had an academic and diving scholarship. He quickly made new friends even though the majority of the students did not go to campus due to the height of Covid. He was going to major in Evolutionary Biology.
Please consider contributing to the Jacob Minnick Memorial Fund. I am in the process of establishing an official non-profit 501(c)3 status, but for the sake of introducing the scholarship for the 2022 graduating year, we are beginning to collect funds through GoFundMe. The scholarship intends to award a student who shows leadership, kindness and is involved in the school. We hope to be able to continue to support students through this scholarship for years to come.
