Help Jacob Peckham with medical expenses

Hi everyone! My name is Elise Haukoos, and I’m trying to raise some money to help out my brother in law. On May 5th, my brother in law Jacob Peckham was in a very tragic motorcycle accident. He broke his spine, and his vertebrae went into his spinal cord and blocked his spinal fluid, causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down. In addition to this, he also broke his foot. It is unknown at this time if Jacob will ever be able to walk again. He currently has some feeling to touch, but no movement in his lower half.

He had to have emergency surgery to get a spinal fusion and a spinal decompression. He is expected to stay in the hospital for at least 5 more weeks, and has to be in physical therapy for a minimum of 6 months.

Jacob is 30 years old and is a car salesman at CarSwap in Tea, SD. He loves hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking and traveling. He is a very active man and loves the outdoors. This is a very scary time for Jacob, as he may never be able to participate in his favorite activities again.

At this time, Jacob is unable to work. Medical bills are piling up, in addition to his every day bills such as rent, car payments, etc. Even after his hospital stay, he will have a very long road to recovery and will require consistent care.

Jacob is staying very positive and motivated at this time, despite these unfortunate events. He is strong willed and passionate and he sure hasn’t lost his sense of humor and personality!
