My name is Rachel Ward and I am Jake’s aunt. On Monday, July 24th Jake was hiking in the Sequoias with some friends to a waterfall. After exploring on his way down from the falls he slipped and fell a great distance hurting himself which resulted in a broken sternum, bruised lungs, and a spinal cord injury. He was airlifted to the closest Trauma 1 hospital in Fresno. The next morning Tuesday, July 25th Jake went into surgery because when he fell part of his spinal cord got damaged. Jake currently has no feeling in his legs. We are praying and believing that God will be with Jake in his healing process and use this as part of his testimony in whatever capacity that is.
Part of what lies in front of us is preparing in many different ways. The funds raised will be used toward medical bills and the purchase of things that Jake will need during the healing process such as making his home wheel chair accessible, a vehicle with hand controls to get Jake to and from rehab when he is released from the hospital, etc.
Since Jake is a minor, the funds will be sent to his parents directly. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and we want to thank you for all your prayers and support given to us in this tough time as we navigate this new season of our life. We believe that God has Jake's life in His hands and will be with him through it all. We are beyond blessed that Jake is alive, there was no brain injury, and he can move his upper body. Jake is an amazing young man and is determined to overcome any obstacles that stand in his way.
