Jacob's Journey

My son Jacob started experiencing concerning symptoms this past year.

He began losing weight quickly and had severe stomach pains. He went to the doctor in July of 2021 and was diagnosed with Diabetes with skyrocketed blood sugar levels and was put on Metformin and a strict diet in hopes to control his sugar levels.

At first, his symptoms seemed to improve and his sugar levels began to decrease. However, as summer progressed into fall his health began to deteriorate further .

Over the last months Jake and his family have fought hard for answers as to why he wasn't able to eat more than soup broth without pain, had little to no energy, pain in his legs and feet making it difficult to stand/walk, and a shocking weight loss leaving his body at 124 lbs.

Jake was finally diagnosed with LADA (Latent Auto-Immune Diabetes in Adults)  an adult type 1.5 Diabetes's. With this diagnosis comes many  questions which can't be answered until Jake sees a specialist. 

This diagnosis along with Jake's symptoms have caused unexpected hardship on his family of four. With Jake unable to work bills are piling up along with new expenses of medication, doctors visits, and specialized appointments . His family is asking for help and support during this time .
