Jacqueline (Jackie) Miller-Higgs Medical Expense

My name is Euthalie Miller. My family is organizing a medical fund raiser for our dear sister Jacqueline (Jackie) Miller Higgs. She is an excellent wife, mother, aunt and friend. We love her dearly.

Jackie was experiencing severe pain in her left foot due to poor blood flow to the leg. When she consulted a specialist concerning her condition, he found that her situation needed urgent treatment as she had developed gangrene on her big toe.

On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, she was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas and had a Femoral Popliteal Bypass (Vascular) Surgery.

It was expected that she would be released in approximately 3 days to continue convalescing at home. In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 5th, the hospital called us with the news that she had experience a heart attack and was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On Monday, August 7th shortly after visiting with her, we receive another call from the hospital for us to return. We were informed that she had coded, was resuscitated and placed on a ventilator. In addition to this, we were told that Jackie has a bad heart and is being treated for diabetes and high blood pressure. We were recently informed that she now needed a tracheostomy and this was performed on Tuesday, September 5.

It has now been in excess of 4 weeks since Jackie has been in ICU and on the ventilator. During this time she went into renal failure and now requires dialysis. Suffice it to say we did not anticipate any of this. Her medical expenses have now grown beyond what we can afford.

We are asking you to please assist us in defraying the cost of her mounting medical expenses. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Your prayers and your donations mean so much to us as Jackie is struggling for her life at this time.
