Jacqueline Means - STEM Events

Hi!
My name is Jacqueline Means, and I am from Southbridge Wilmington DE, where shootings and robberies are the norm, and where more than 60% of kids dropout of high school. I have defied these odds. I am a hard working student that goes to one of the best schools in the state. I attend the Delaware Military Academy, where I maintain a 4.0 GPA.
I am only 16 years old and, because of my passion for science, technology, engineering, and math, I founded Wilmington Urban STEM Initiative. Through my organization, I have been hosting Girls Empowerment STEM Events throughout the past two years and have been able to positively impacted over 2000 young girls. At every event, each girl gets to do her own five science experiments (including making slime, elephant toothpaste, and even ice cream!) and also listens to an inspiring talk from prominent women from their community, such as Congresswoman Lisa Blunt-Rochester.
Girls think that STEM isn't for them because they so rarely see women doing it. Through my Girls Empowerment STEM events, I am able to show the girls through hands-on experiments how exciting science and engineering is! I have positively impacted over 2000 girls already. Please help me continue to encourage each young girl to believe that she can become a scientist, an engineer, and anything else imaginable!
I am raising funds to continue to promote STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) to girls and empower them by hosting my Girls Empowerment STEM events. Your donation will help purchase needed supplies (Ex: aprons, goggles, trays, beakers, graduated cylinders, pipettes, bowls, glue, and much more!) and equipment to continue bringing STEM education to kids in Wilmington, DE!
