Jacqueline's Fight Against Cancer

Jacqueline needs our help. In June of 2018, at age 32, wife and mother of two, was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the uterus, ovaries, and cervix. It is a rare and aggressive cancer that forms in the glands of the body. She has had to undergo multiple tests, imaging, and procedures. Jacqueline is scheduled for a radical hysterectomy and bilateral salpingopherectomy on August 16th, and will likely need to undergo radiation treatment afterwards.
Since initial diagnosis, Jacqueline's life has been turned completely upside down; the most heartbreaking news to a young person is those 3 words: "you have cancer." Despite the news, Jacqueline continued working as a Registered Nurse in the recovery room at Onslow Memorial Hospital. In addition to this job, she also was working part time in the emergency room at Naval Hospital @ Camp Lejeune. She cared for those who came through the emergency room at Naval, while she was bleeding, in pain, and heavy hearted. She performed flawlessly, with a smile and kind words, never missing a beat, or uttering a word of her own suffering, that even Florence Nightingale would be proud. This is the kind of person that Jackie is.
4 days later, at 4am, Jacqueline was rushed to the hospital in Wilmington, due to severe hemorrhaging. She required a blood transfusion and a 3 day hospital stay. Now, she is on bed rest, and unable to work until after she recovers from surgery; she will be out of work for at least the next 12 weeks. Unfortunately, the state of North Carolina does not offer short term disability. Cancer is one of the most expensive illnesses, is never planned for, and creates financial strains for the families, especially since they had just built a new house.
Jacqueline is a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is hard-working, selfless, and truly puts her heart and soul into helping others. She is loved by so many; Jacqueline is her dad's favorite Ravens/Steelers game-day fanatic, her kids' favorite MarioKart nemesis, her husband's favorite surfing buddy, her girlfriends' favorite dance partner, and all her patient's favorite nurse. Everyone who knows her, knows that no matter where she is, she will light up the room with her huge smile and gentle spirit. She is someone that can help you become strong when you're weak, inspire you to worry less, and encourage you to enjoy the little things in life. Her spirit is one of kind and we are blessed to know her. She, as well as her husband, who also is a nurse, have committed their lives to helping others find health, hope, and happiness. They both have given so much of themselves to family, friends, strangers, the St Regis Resort, and the surfing community of Topsail Island. Now, it is time for us to give back and help her and her family find that health, hope, and happiness once again.
Please help to surround her with love and hope, as she goes through this difficult journey. Our love and kindness will help Jacqueline beat cancer! Thank you so much for your contributions, but most of all we thank you for your love and prayers! May the good Lord be over the hands of the doctors, and grant them the knowledge, and wisdom to heal Jacqueline.
We encourage all to wear the color teal in honor of ovarian and cervical cancers, peach for uterine cancer, pink for breast cancer. We should all continue to raise awareness for female cancers, as they are so devastating. Remember, "no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
