I am her grandson but I called her mom. She took me in at 2 years old and her and my grandfather raised me from then on. They tried to give me the world growing up and never stopped trying. I wish I could but I know I can never repay that.
Diane passed away early in the morning on March 30th, 2021. She leaves behind a husband, 2 kids, and 3 grandchildren and many family and friends.
It just still doesn't feel real. I keep waiting on her to call my name from the other side of the house and ask me to fix her a coke with some ice. Or just for her to walk through the door any second and show me her little outfits after doing some shopping.
Diane had so much love in her heart and never hesitated to say how much she loved someone. She was beautiful on the inside and outside. Over the years she would do whatever she could to help the people in her life and make sure they were okay. Or would be there to listen and give advice. She was one of a kind lady. Her family was the most important thing to her. She kept us all together, she was definitely the glue of our family. Every holiday her house is where everyone would always go to get together and escape.
In 1972 she graduated from Walter F. George High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She had many high school friends that she kept in close contact with throughout the years. They loved her and she loved them back.
She was a true southerner born and raised
Any animal was her friend. She had unconditional love for her pets, they were like her other set of kids.
She was a avid music lover.
She loved Eric Clapton and going to live concert.
In the 80s and early 90s you could catch her at Daytona for bike week.
She was truly a free spirit to the fullest. What was on her mind she would say. You never had to wonder. I remember she gave me one of the bests burns when I was in high school. I asked her if my clothes made me look fat and she looked me in the eyes and said, "No it's your fat that makes you look fat."
I never said anything to her but I always loved her even more for just saying something like that. Because it came from a good place of pure uncensored love and thats all I could ever ask for.
Over time we slowly started talking more about getting prepared for when this day came and getting her a will and life insurance. but we never thought it would come this soon.
I/we created this fundraiser for anyone who would like to contribute in whatever ways possible to help cover funeral costs and burial. And to cover some of her leftover expenses.
Whatever support you can provide is very appreciated. Thank you from all of us.
