Jade transfer hospitals and expenses

Jade Quinones is a 19 year old Grand Rapids, MI native who has always been so full of life even when life is unfair. Jade was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2 at the age of 12 in 2016. Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes benign tumors on the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves (CNS system).

She resides in a long-term care rehabilitation facility in Plantation, Florida due to her 24/7 skilled nursing needs. Jade is bed-bound, ventilator dependent, and doesn’t ambulate (she cannot walk or move on her own). Her parents, Barbara Ortega and Angel Quinones reside in Orlando, Florida (along with her sister, Naiara (13) and grandmother, Maria (71) - who are the family’s support system).

They travel 3 hrs one-way to visit and/or for recurring emergencies to be by Jade’s side.
She’s gone through so much (medically, physically, emotionally and spiritually) since she was a pre-teen and continues to endure traumatic surgeries.

On the morning of October 31st, Jade was found unresponsive in her nursing home room. She was sent to the ER via 911. Subsequently, Jade was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit due to sepsis, leukocytosis, and encephalopathy. Due to recurring MRSA, severe UTIs, and lung infections, Jade has been admitted to the hospital a plethora of times during her stay at the nursing home facility.

During this admission, we found out that another brain surgery is necessary. The frontal lobe meningioma (tumor on her brain) has been growing since 2016 and is now too large thus causing to shift Jade’s brain; surgical intervention is needed.

Our first goal is to get Jade transferred back home to Orlando for surgery. And our second goal is to help support while Barbie and Angel reside with their daughter at the hospital as she goes through this process. Taking time off of work to care for their daughter becomes a financial burden; travel, room and board and meals that add quickly to insurmountable amounts.

We come to you with grateful hearts and ask that you would please consider donating what you can to lessen the stress of financial burden. And to show support to not only Jade but to her family as well so they can hold her hand and continue to advocate for their child.

As this is not a short road, but rather a life-long journey, your prayers will strengthen us in faith. Thank you for your generosity in prayer. We wholeheartedly have faith that our God will restore Jade’s health.

If you would like to show some extra support by sending a letters, cards, or flowers you can send them to:
