End-of-life arrangements for Jade's mom

Hey everyone,

 

Jade's mom, Shawn M. Weymouth (64), died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She was scheduled to move to Santa Rosa to help care for Cecilia only two days later.

Shawn volunteered to help unhoused folks in Santa Clara County until the end of of her life. She worked at First 5 for several years and built many sustainable programs for parents. She helped foster youth transition out of foster care and always had a room for someone to sleep in. 

Shawn was a bigger than life spirit with big ideas and opinions. She had a strong sense of what was right and wrong in the world and always wanted to be on the right side of history. Jade and Cecilia know she is watching them, and we are all sad she doesn’t get to be with Cecilia as she grows.

 

Jade is in Gilroy, sorting through and navigating her mother's effects. She needs help with the sudden unexpected costs for a small celebration of life and cremation of her mother's remains. She estimates a budget of $8,000.

 

As you know, Jade is a new, single mother to dear Cecilia. Jade also recently stepped into the Executive Director role with La Familia Sana in Cloverdale, an organization dedicated to creating impactful and sustainable change in our communities. Though she's taken to both of these things like a duck to water, the stress is real.

 

Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.

 

There is also a mealtrain that will be mobilized once Jade returns from Gilroy.
