Jadzia's Mysterious Mammary Growths
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Rosalie. In may of this year, my family adopted Jadzia from a family whose cat had a litter of kittens. She quickly became an integral part of our family, along with her brother, Samwise.
Jadzia went to the vet to get fixed, and we were told that her enlarged mammary glands (something we had assumed was due to her going into heat) were abnormal. In fact, the vet said that she'd never seen anything like it before. 2 of her glands were quite sizable, but all of them were enlarged.
Her routine spay turned into a spay and mastectomy. The abnormal gland is going to pathology to be tested. Best case scenario is that it's a weird hormonal issue that will resolve now that she no longer has ovaries. Worst case scenario is malignant mammary cancer.
The cost of spaying Jadzia was already putting a massive strain on our finances. The additional surgery was well beyond what we can afford. Knowing that she may have more surgeries in her future to remove all of her mammary glands is scary. But she's only 5 1/2 months old, so we want to give her a chance at life.
Jadzia is a very sweet girl who loves to snuggle. She is deeply bonded with her littermate, Samwise. She snuggles with our 5 year old when he's hurt. She likes strangers and loves it when anyone plays with her.
Her surgery was just under $2000. Anything raised above that amount will go towards paying off Samwise's neutering cost, and then it will go toward any additional medical costs for Jadzia's mysterious mammary growths.
Thank you.
