Jaedon to Nat'l Youth Conference

Donation protected
I’ll be honest: I never thought I’d be one to start a GoFundMe for anything. But then, something miraculous happened, and here I am.

My 14-year-old son, Jaedon Simmons is a freshman at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Raised in a single-parent household, Jaedon has grown up without a father. However, he has never let his personal adversities stop him from achieving great things.

Recently, he was invited to represent his high school at the National Student Leadership Conference ! This is a big deal, because NSLC is a prestigious program that selects outstanding high school students from around the world to participate based on academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, and demonstrated leadership potential. It is an honor for him to be selected and I am over-the-moon excited about this opportunity for him, and how it will shape the course of his future.

Why Jaedon was selected:

o  A Great Student: 8th grade cumulative GPA of 4.29, Honors Curriculum: 9th grade mid-year GPA of 4.38, 8th grade ACT score: 20

o   A Leader: Nominated by faculty for leadership profile (bio & pics)

o  An Active, Hard-Working Young Man: Marching Band, Baseball, Photography Club

o  An Active Volunteer in his Community: Habitat for Humanity, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, New Orleans Mission, SPCA New Orleans, Second Harvest Food Bank, American Red Cross.

o   An Active Participant/Mentee: Son of a Saint, mentorship program

The challenge is the cost to send Jaedon to Washington DC to participate. The wonderful village around my son is pulling together to do as much as we can with what we have, but your generosity will ensure he has the chance to take advantage of this path-setting opportunity. I believe in my son and believe in the power of community propelling him towards this a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m determined to get him there, and your donation is an investment in his success.

Jaedon was sent a personal invitation and has been guaranteed acceptance. It is a first-come, first-served program and registration is required by March 15th. For your generosity, Jaedon will write personal thank you letters to each donor.

Thank you so much for your generosity. A donation today is an investment in his tomorrow.
