The last day of school June 26,2024, outside a school in Woodside, the lives of Jael Zhinin, a beloved 16 years old teenage girl, and her 8-year-old sister Leslie were forever altered. Jael tragically lost her life, and Leslie sustained severe injuries when they were struck by a box truck at the intersection of 46th Street and 47th Avenue near I.S. 125. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. as the driver of a white Ford truck was making a right turn onto 46th Street from westbound 47th Avenue. The circumstances of the accident, including whether the driver had the right of way, are currently under investigation. About Jael and Leslie: Jael, a vibrant young girl with a promising future ahead, was taken from us too soon. Leslie, her younger sister, is bravely fighting to recover from the injuries sustained in this devastating accident.
