Jaela's Heart
Donation protected
Jaela, is a sweet, selfless 17-year old girl, who loves her church, basketball, art, and taking care of others. Prior to the issues with her heart, Jaela played on her high school’s varsity Basketball team; and had played basketball since she was 8 years old. She was recently selected to attend the TN Governor’s School of Art due to her impeccable artistic abilities and her love of art. In addition to art and basketball, she loves taking care of and mentoring to younger kids and feeding the homeless in our community. She often talks of opening a homeless shelter.
Jaela’s love of playing basketball came to an abrupt halt due to her battle with her heart problems. At age 15, she began to have chest pains, and was immediately admitted to the hospital intensive care unit for about 3 weeks due to her cardiac markers being extremely elevated. This was a shock to us because she has always been careful and cautious about her health and diet, always making healthy choices. There have been several more stays in the hospital since her first admission, with her most recent being 4 months ago, at which time she had a procedure that resulted in her coding for almost 30 minutes. We give all credit to God for doctors sticking in there to bring her back to us. Jaela is very resilient and a fighter, and through all of this, she has remained positive and faithful.
At this point doctors have been unable to determine the underlying cause of Jaela’s condition; only saying that it is very rare. She has had several cardiac diagnoses and she has extensive blockage on one side of her heart. In 2 weeks, we will be leaving our home, indefinitely, to go to the Mayo Clinic where we have been referred for Jaela to have additional testing done in an attempt to find answers so that she can receive the appropriate treatment. With this move, we will have to maintain our home as well as cover all costs associated with this transition (i.e. transportation, lodging, and any additional medical expenses not covered by insurance). This is a fight for her life with a lot of unknowns; we ask that you support Jaela, and us, so that this will be a smooth transition to minimize any additional hardships. All additional funds raised will go towards her medical expenses and a donation to a charity of her choice.
Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13; with that, we claim and believe complete restoration, healing and strength of her heart will be the end result of this process…We thank you all for reading her story and would like to extend our gratitude in advance!
Sincerely,
The Boyland Family
