Jai's World Initiative

My nephew Jai Sewell Hughes was stabbed and killed near our family home on Thursday the 1st of November 2018 at 5:20pm. He was only 15 years old.
His death sparked outrage and a cry for action from the local community, police and government surrounding the vulnerability of teenagers and the startling rise of gang culture and knife crime.
With justice being served legally (Jai’s killer received a 19 year sentence) me and my family have been looking at ways to commemorate Jai’s legacy through positive community outreach to inspire, educate and equip young people with the tools to protect themselves and help others if they are faced with the frightening encounter of being attacked with a weapon.
I have launched my first social enterprise fund under the Ida Rose Foundation named Jai’s World Initiative, in partnership with On Points Communications and CSE Stunts.
The funds will help us begin to facilitate weekly self defence classes and first aid in the local Bellingham area, where Jai was born and raised and other London areas.
