Jake Kline's cancer battle
Donation protected
Jacob Kline was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019 after it had metastasized and began to deteriorate the TE & T4 vertebrae in his spine. After 28 treatments of radiation and immune therapy for a year, the cancer was brought under control. Shortly thereafter, Jake started to have difficulty getting food down and keeping it down. Testing showed that a tumor had formed in the esophagus just above the stomach which was not allowing food to pass into the stomach. Biopsies showed that this was an entirely different kind of cancer and a series of 8 bi-weekly chemo treatments were begun.
The weight loss that followed ended up totaling over 90 pounds in less than a year, despite a feeding tube in use. The doctors at HMC wanted Jake to gain weight prior to the major surgery needed to remove the esophageal tumor above the stomach and the multiple tumors that have formed in his stomach.
He was able to regain 30 pounds prior to his initial diagnostic laparoscopic surgery and “chemo wash” on December 13th. His surgeon, Dr. Peng of HMC, was able to remove cancer spots on the diaphragm and now plans to do the major surgery in the new year after a period of recuperation and possibly another “chemo wash”.
Throughout all of these difficulties and the mounting medical expenses, Jake has continued to work full time driving tractor trailer and maintaining an amazing positive attitude and trust in his Lord Jesus that is an inspiration to his church family and all who come in contact with him.
"But the Lord stood with me & gave me Strength." -2 Tim 4:17
