Jake Oppenheimer Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
On Thursday August 8th, Jake was in Phoenix for work, away from his home in Tucson. In the evening he experienced extreme head pain, a stiff neck, and vomiting. He was rushed to the ER by a friend who luckily lives nearby. He is okay! But after many long and scary hours and testing, we now know that he had a Subarachnoid Hemorrhagic Stroke, a brain aneurysm that burst, and it is causing extensive bleeding in his brain.
As you can imagine, this unexpected medical emergency will have a huge impact on his finances, as he is completely unable to work or even leave the hospital. His job is very physical, and it is not yet known how this will affect his ability to work after release. His health insurance had also very recently lapsed. I created this Gofundme to aid in his recovery costs and living expenses in this difficult time. If you would like to help in any way, it is beyond appreciated.
On Friday morning, surgery was done to try to repair the ruptured aneurysm, and control the bleeding. We do not know the prognosis just yet, but he will need to stay in the ICU for at least a total of 10 days. Jake is only 31 years old, and in otherwise good health, so we have high hopes for his recovery.
At the moment, he is on round the clock care and a lot of medication, but is doing very well and hasn't experienced any major deficits despite having some post-stroke symptoms and a lot of pain. We're all keeping spirits high!
His family, friends, and I have been with him since day one, and will continue to drive between Tucson and Phoenix to be there with him and to keep everyone updated.
Please share this as much as you can to get the word out there, and keep him in your thoughts, anything helps, and thank you all so so much for any and all love and support sent his way! Send all the good vibes!
