This year marks 8 years since the passing of Jake Harris.
Our very own Mr Infinity passed away at 21 years old and is to be known eternally as FOREVER 21. It only seems fitting that 2021 marks an important year in our journey of remembrance for the most amazing boy that we had the joy to know.
To mark Jake's anniversary date, we will be holding a fundraiser day on May 30th 2021. We will call this 'Jakes Day'.
This will be based up by Jake's grave and there will be a variety of goings on.
The focus of the day will be 3 of Jake's friends, Matthew Rain, Liam Poole and Brandon Ashton, doing 3 half marathons consecutively during the day. A half marathon is 21KM, so again the 21 pops up. They will begin the challenge at Jake's grave and cycle 21KM, followed by a 21KM row each and ending with a 21KM run/walk which finishes up at Jake's grave.
Anyone wishing to join in the challenge or find out any more information, please see the Instagram page. There is an opportunity for everyone to be involved in the final section of the challenge - the 21KM run. This can be walked, run, crawled, anyway you can manage it! If you would like to just do a small section then this is also absolutely fine, we’d just love to see as many people as possible attempt this challenge!
We feel that this is an amazing idea & something that we can all set our minds & hearts towards for 2021. It is definitely a huge challenge but we have every bit of faith in anyone who sets their minds on this challenge to absolutely smash it!
We are hoping that people will back this amazing idea and help us to turn this into a successful fundraiser day.
The funds will be going to Early Break. Early Break is a charity that offers accurate, unbiased information on all aspects of drug and alcohol use and also a free counselling, support and treatment service to anyone aged 21 and under, who feels they may have an issue, question or problem related to drug or alcohol use. The charity can also offer support for parents and caters.
If you are familiar with the sequence of events that led to the unfortunate passing of Jake, then I am sure that the reasons for selecting this charity are clear and understandable simply from reading the charities motives.
Additional to this, whilst considering a number of charities in attempt to determine the one that we felt was most appropriate for representing our personal reasons behind this event, I was in discussions with the Early Break Rochdale team and felt that their understanding and consideration for this event was very touching and this helped to finalise our decision.
We hope this brings a truly positive & inspiritional way to celebrate the life of our angel, Jake Harris.
Thank you so so much to everyone who supports and donates to this day. It is unbelievably appreciated.
Get training everyone, let’s make this a day to remember! #jakesday2021
