Jakes Half Marathon For Nick

Join me in making a difference by donating to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and raising awareness of prostate cancer.

On the 15th of May, I will be running Chester half Marathon in aid of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and in memory of my partner's late father who recently died from prostate cancer, Nick.

Nick wasn’t only my partner's father, he was my mate, a D.I.Y expert, with every tool possible, and responsible for many new hobbies which I found myself doing most weekends with him.

Nick was able to mountain bike, surf, wild swim, and hike for five great years after his first advanced prostate diagnosis because of the amazing support and treatment he received from Clatterbridge cancer trust. However, after two rounds of chemo and many an expensive drug, unfortunately, cancer spread around his body. Throughout this tough time, Clatterbridge was a constant support and provided all the help they could, to both Nick and his family.

Now I may not be able to run it at the speed Nick was doing it in, but I’m going to give it my best shot mate! Fingers crossed I don’t beat his most recent time of 1:42 in fear of thunder and lightning; (he wasn’t fond of being beaten which I discovered after a park run, and a few trips to the swimming pool)!

This run is not just about raising money for Clatterbridge it is also about awareness. Please get checked. Even if you think ‘oh it will never happen to me’, just do it.

Help me help make a difference to another person’s life. Let’s get raising so someone else’s friend can have those extra years and spend it with their family and doing what they love most.
