Jalisa's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Nina, and I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my little sister Jalisa. Jalisa was involved in a horrific car accident on Thursday, October 28, while driving home to her 8-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son. She was hit from the rear, ejected from the front windshield of the car, and left on the side of the road. Jalisa was LifeLined to a hospital in Charlotte, NC, where she is currently undergoing various surgeries and procedures to treat her injuries. Jalisa is suffering from several broken bones in her face, hip, and seven fractures in her spine. She also sustained a fracture to her skull along with several significant cuts and gashes - one of which went from ear to ear, exposing her head to the asphalt. She also sustained other injuries, but these are some of the significant impacts we know of so far. Jalisa has already undergone surgery on her brain. She is scheduled to have surgery again today to remove some of the blood on her brain, resetting and casting several parts of her body. The surgery is expected to last 6-8 hours, and paralysis has not yet been ruled out.
While it is a complete miracle that Jalisa is alive, she has a long and painful road to recovery ahead of her. Even as she is lying in the hospital full of unknowns, she cracks jokes and tries to make others smile and laugh. During a time when she should be thinking about herself and her own healing, she is thinking of her family and the impacts this tragedy will have on her fiancé Dre and daughter Khloe and son Kayden. That’s the kind of person Jalisa is. She has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever known. She would do absolutely anything in the world to protect and care for her loved ones, and now she needs the same care and support.
Right now, what Jalisa needs most is peace of mind as she begins her journey to healing and recovery. Jalisa is facing mounting medical bills and is currently without a car, as hers was totaled in the accident. They also have to account for the days her fiancé will need to take off work to be by her side during this challenging time, gas money to and from the hospital, care for her children, and care for Jalisa once she returns home. She needs to know that her family will not suffer financial hardships so that she can focus entirely on her recovery.
Jalisa is one of the strongest human beings I have ever been blessed to know. She has not always been dealt the easiest of circumstances. In fact, many times, she’s had the exact opposite. But throughout her life, she’s always managed to keep smiling and seeing the best in others. Through this GoFundMe, I am hoping to show my little sister just how much she is loved and that she is right to see the good in the people around her.
If you are able to show her some love and support during this difficult time, please consider helping her out by donating to this recovery fund.
