PLEASE HELP SAVE THESE DOGS!
I travelled to Jamaica on holiday a week ago and was completely overwhelmed by the amount of stray dogs and cats on the beach near the Royalton hotel in Montego Bay.
These animals desperately need our help so that they can be rescued from starvation, ill health, animal cruelty or death!
During our stay lots of guests including myself fed the dogs on the beach every day. But some dogs are too terrified to come anywhere near you which makes you wonder what has happened to them to fear us so badly.
There were reports of some of these animals being stoned which horrified me to my very core. The genuine look of fear of some of these dogs and puppies is something I will never forget.
Some guests were annoyed at these animals and their mere presence on the beach. But they have every right to live, breathe, eat and exist as all of us and these poor little creatures are not harming any of us. (The dogs I managed to feed were very gentle and patient and did not approach you unless you approached them.)
These little beauties in the photos live under a bamboo hut right next to the hotel. Whilst at this location I heard that they are shortly due to lose their home as the hut will be knocked down to make way for the hotel’s expansion.
This means these animals will lose their shelter where they hide to seek shelter from the harsh sun and heavy rains.
If we raise enough money we can have them rescued by The Animal House Jamaica https://www.facebook.com/theanimalhousejamaica/
This is run by a wonderful woman called Maureen who originates from Warwickshire in the United Kingdom.
If you contact her on facebook she will confirm this plan. She has been rescuing animals for the past 30 years in Jamaica and her shelter is a registered charity. The Animal House Jamaica has rescued numerous dogs and puppies from this hotel location for the past nine years but because of lack of resources have not been able to help all of the dogs. The shelter does not currently house cats however if we exceed this target we may even be able to help them too.
In order to keep this going and save these sweet little animals in the photos, we are asking for your help as you will agree that these poor creatures have no voice and deserve a chance .
Neutering is a huge problem too so not only can we tend to Spay/Neutering but we can help get them rescued and re-homed. Any donation small or large is welcome and will make a difference!
Thanking you in advance for your help on this rescue mission!
