James and Al paddle the River Severn
Myself and Al will be cycling and kayaking the length of the River Severn over 4 days to raise money for West Mercia Search and Rescue (WMSAR). This is a journey of 354km. We will be starting at the source and cycling to Llanidloes where it will be deep enough for us to start paddling. From there we will paddle over 4 days to the Severn Beach in Gloucestershire. Through WMSAR's operational area. We will be completing this journey on Friday 28th May to Monday 31st May 2021.
We are both volunteers in the kayak team for WMSAR, which is a charity run by volunteers who look for lost and vulnerable people in West Mercia. WMSAR relies on donations to keep operating. We've both responded to flood rescue callouts as well as missing people searches on land and water. Due to COVID-19 it has been harder for us to fundraise in the usual ways, so we're getting creative and challenging ourselves.
Please donate and share, more information about WMSAR can be found here: https://westmerciasar.org.uk/
