James “Brinks” Brinker
Donation protected
Hi friends and family of James, I am Valorie Startzenbach, American Legion Family member of Brinks. As most of you may know, James “Brinks” Brinker, an Air Force Veteran, an active Legionnaire for Stetser Lamartine American Legion Post 281, and Post 281 American Legion Rider was escorting bicyclists for the Annual Foster 100 Ride on 9/9/23.
The Foster 100 is Team Foster’s signature cycling fundraising event with proceeds providing trained service dogs at no cost to Veterans.
In support of this event, American Legion Riders Post 281 were volunteering as motorcycle escorts for each platoon of Team Foster bicyclistst.
It was during this ride that Brinks, was hit by a car. He was taken to Cooper Hospital Trauma Unit where it was discovered that he has fractured his lower left leg and knee, fractured ribs, fractured facial bones, as well as road rash on both arms and face, and a left foot puncture injury.
He underwent surgery to fix his leg and knee on 9/12/23, and another procedure for his jaw 9/14/23, he is in great spirits and has not lost his contagious smile and laugh despite the amount of discomfort he is in.
His bike however, has been totaled from the accident. He will also be enduring months of recovery at a rehab facility and then at home, until he is back on 2 feet again.
We are asking for any financial assistance, you may be able to provide in order for Brinks to not feel the added stress of the result of this accident. We, his Legion family; thank you for any donations you may provide.
