James & Denise Sloane
Donation protected
Hi, my name is David Raynor. I have known James and Denise Sloane for over 20 years both professionally and more important, personally. James and Denise have been providing set security for the Philadelphia film and TV community for as long as I can remember. They have been an integral part of our industry and have made friends from all over the world.
On May 11th, 2023 after numerous tests a large mass obstructing the lower third of James' esophagus and the top of his stomach were biopsied. The results were devastating. James was diagnosed with stage three esophageal cancer. James was immediately hospitalized for ‘failure to thrive” after having lost 60lbs and being unable to swallow anything. On May 19th, 2023 a “G Tube” was surgically placed in his stomach to help him receive nourishment while he remained hospitalized until he was stable and doctors were satisfied that he would be able to accept the liquid feedings.
In order to help offset the cost for treatment and medicine this Go Fund Me has been established to help the Sloane family. Any donation is greatly appreciated on behalf of James and Dee. They are very proud, hard working individuals. Both are aware that film and television industry employees are being hit hard right now with two existing strikes. Anything that contributed will be a true blessing.
A little bit about James...
James was born in 1950 in Philadlephia. At age 17 he joined the Marines and served in Vietnam. After being discharged, he found himself stationed in Calfornia. He always had a desire to protect and serve those around him. Stationed in San Diego, he worked with the California Highway patrol as a tow truck driver for Interstate 5 while attending San Diego State to earn his degree in psychology. He left the west coast and returned to Philadelphia to take care of his mother. After settling down in Philadelphia he found his niche working with at-risk- youth and women who were victims of domestic violence. In 1999 James began working security in motion picture and television and had been largely been employed as a supervisor for the past 24 years.
James has been married to Denise (the love of his life) for the past 46 years. They have 4 children as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. James has always enjoyed the company of friends, listening to music and taking long drives. He is also very passionate about his San Francisco 49'ers.
James and Dee wanted to extend a very heartfelt thank you to those within the film and TV community that have assisted with getting James to his appointments and lending their support: Josh Clark, Fred Cliver, Jason Currie, John Galloway, Chris Gormley, Staci Hagenbaugh and Kait McAlister.
Thank you for taking the time to read. We appreciate your support.
