James Dolan Memorial Fund
Donation protected
It was with extremely heavy hearts that we learned James Dolan — faithful friend and once & always Sergeant of U.S. Marines — passed away a few days after Christmas. James was a modest, proud, and intensely loyal person to anyone that was privileged enough to call him friend. He always put others before himself, and the truth above all else.
There are very few words to describe how devastated we are that James is no longer with us, and yet we find comfort in knowing that his legacy of service and advocacy will carry on.
James touched so many people’s lives while he was here, and in that spirit, we will continue to support the ideals that he lived for and do meaningful work in his memory. We’re establishing the James Dolan Memorial Fund to celebrate his life and honor his belief in service. Starting this year, and continuing every year hereafter, we’ll organize a gathering of James’ friends and family to support non-profit foundations and service projects in his name.
The James Dolan Memorial Fund
Please donate and extend an invitation to anyone willing to contribute to James’ memorial fund, which we’ll be donating in full to several non-profits in his honor. This year, we will donate to:
• Semper Fi Fund provides financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/11 combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured service members and their families.
• Freedom of the Press Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping support and defend public-interest journalism focused on exposing mismanagement, corruption, and law-breaking in government.
--
From his Marine Corps family:
“Fellow Marines, James is survived by each and every one of us. As anyone who was close to James has realized these past few days, we have an incredibly tight knit community. Help us celebrate his life and honor him in his passing the way he would have for any one of us.”
From his family in civil rights advocacy:
“We are heartbroken he is gone, but we are also eternally grateful to have known and worked with him. It is impossible to overstate how important James Dolan was to the development of Freedom of the Press Foundation.”
--
Please help us do service in the honor of a good friend (and sometimes goofball)
James was a good man, and we all loved him. We know that this memorial fund will only make a small dent compared to the direct impact that James had in this world, but we sincerely appreciate any and all contributions — great and small — that are made in honor of his life. Thank you all.
Sincerely,
Friends and Family of James Dolan
