James Egan was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He has been hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital for a lengthy stay and has completed his first-round if chemo therapy.
He is a special needs teacher in Providence, and a beautiful spirit. He currently is working on a farm to school project, which he wrote grants for and was successful in obtaining funding to build a greenhouse for his school, Mount Pleasant High School. He also has organized and run the Backpack Program for the school, for those students who are as he termed it "food insecure". These backpacks are packed with food donated by school staff and sent home on the weekends with the students who are in need.
