Update 11/22/2023
We saw the oncology surgeon and they said that James has Stage III pancreatic cancer with lymphatic involvement which means he will need chemotherapy.
Originally he said he would not agree to chemotherapy but he is willing to learn what that involves now.
Thankfully that can be done in Texarkana and we’re going to meet Dr Daphne Taylor on Monday at 2:00
James still continues to have good days and bad days.
His weight continues to drop. His lowest so far has been 142.
He is having a hard time with his body image but he is still trying so hard to eat but the nausea is nearly unbearable.
Tomorrow is thanksgiving day and I’m praying for a good day for him.
Even if he can only have a turkey sandwich I pray it’s a good day for him.
I pray your family has a memorable Thanksgiving day and hug your loved ones extra hard.
This is very difficult for me to write but a few people have asked how they can help us during this extremely difficult time.
James hasn’t worked full time since April 2023.
Poor guy has been so sick with nausea and stomach pain for right at a year now. I finally talked him into going to the ER last month and prayed that the Doctor’s there would find out what was going on with him.
Dr. Cozart did an ERCP and found cancer in his common bile duct.
We were referred to a GI oncologist in Tyler Texas and he is going to perform a Whipple procedure on October 23, 2023
His skin tone is very yellow from jaundice and has lost over 50 lbs.
Eating is a nightmare as he explains it feeling like he ate a brick. He has delayed gastric emptying and he is often very miserable.
Since he has been unable to work at this time we desperately need help making all of our monthly payments.
Our mortgage company has been sending certified letters threatening to foreclose on our home. We no longer have internet.
We are doing our best to keep our cellular phones so that we can keep updating everyone.
I was able to send the mortgage company one payment but then they sent me another certified letter today 10/20/2023.
It’s a very stressful time as I’m sure it is for a lot of people in this economy.
If you can help in any way it will be greatly appreciated. Please share this with your friends and family because I don’t know any other way of letting his friends know how they can be of help.
If you’re not in a position to contribute monetarily then please say a prayer for the skilled hands of the surgical team that we are entrusting our sweet James to. Also pray for the very best outcome of this situation.

Update time!!!! We are 12 days post operative cancer surgery . James L. Emerson is walking as much as his little body will allow .
He’s now down to 147 lbs Mentally he’s exhausted Physically he’s exhausted
We are trying to set goals short term and long term I’m glad he has things that he is adamant about . FISHING is on top. If you know anything about him, you know he has a love for fishing
He still has staples from his sternum to his pubic area. He still has a Jackson-Pratt drain that is pulling several ounces a day.
We see the surgeon on the 8th, it is at this appointment that we will discuss the need for a feeding tube
My biggest fear is that he will starve to death ……literally He is only able to eat 3-4 bites of food at a time.
We purchased him some ensure max protein drinks in chocolate and he seems to like them pretty well.
Rice sets well with his newly arraigned innerds so we went to Sam’s and got some chicken fried rice in individual packets .
❤️❤️ I must say I have been blessed with some heavenly sent people . Thru donations I have been able to get the foreclosure on the house stopped for now.
I have cried over the love and kindness that have seen this through.
We are so undeserving and in the same breath so grateful for all of your support.
God takes care of his people !!!
