James L. Mauney

The Kendrick-Juliaetta community is raising funds to help the widow of James Mauney who was brutally murdered last week. The suspects are an escape convict and his recently released cell mate, at this time they have been arrested and arraigned.

James had left his house around 10:00 am to go for a walk with his two dogs, Leo and Daisy, just like he did everyday. He was due home around noon because both James and Liliia had appointments at 1:00 pm. The day continued on with no sign of James. Around 5:00 pm, there was no trace of James, his car or his dogs , we decided to call the Sheriff's office and report him as a missing person. A search party, along with several Nez Perce County Sheriff's met early in the morning on the 21st. It was shortly after we broke out into groups when the car that the escaped convict had stolen from Boise was located and unfortunately James's body was located about 1/2 mile from the car. His dogs were found unharmed shortly after locating James and they were reunited with Liliia.

Liliia is now responsible for all the expenses attributed to their household and she has to plan a funeral. If you can help our dear friend out at all it would be so appreciated. When the funeral date has been decided on we will post it here.
