James-Thomas Strong

Donation protected

Bob and Laura Kish, parishioners of St. Thomas More University Parish, have seven children.  Their youngest son, James-Thomas, who is 2 years old is a special needs child in their family.  James-Thomas was born with Down Syndrome.  Recently on November 24, 2014 he was diagnosed with Leukemia, a common form of childhood cancer.
Before his diagnosis he was already facing several life challenges that many people take for granted like learning how to walk, talk and feed himself.  In raising a child with special needs the costs are already high due to physical therapy, speech therapy and other numerous expenses.  Then with adding treatment for Leukemia, which is a 2 year treatment plan at the minimum for someone with Down Syndrome adds even more.
They are a one income family because Laura stays at home to take care of James-Thomas and to take him to all of his chemotherapy and doctor's appointments.  As many can imagine raising seven children can be very expensive in addition to having one with special needs.  The Kish family has been blessed abundantly by James-Thomas.  He has brought so much joy and love to their family and several others who have been blessed to meet him.  He has taught the world key life lessons that many never have the chance of learning .....like every day is truly a GIFT from God and that one should relish and enjoy every minute of it.
This recent diagnosis of James-Thomas has put a financial hardship on the family with ongoing expenses for him.  If you feel so called, please consider making a donation to help defray some of James-Thomas' expenses and help the Kish family.  No matter what your financial contribution may be the family will be forever grateful.
If you know James-Thomas, you know he is a delightful little boy who has great potential in changing our world in how we perceive those with Down Syndrome.  The Kish's thank you for your love, support, and thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in their lives.

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)
